A Dog's Purpose

A friend sent me an email that had this little poem in it. Being a dog lover, and Lucy's Momma, it really touched me. How true it is, we should all have this outlook on life!

A Dog's Purpose
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:When loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy. Take naps.

Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Friday night in the big town!

Although that SOUNDS like a snazzy title....I didn't do much tonight except cook a dinner! However after dinner, Lucy and I went for a one mile walk at the Red Oak YMCA walking track! It was a GREAT walk, and afterwards we met up with my best pal Regina, her hubby and their baby, Jillian and visited for a few minutes! All in all, it was a nice evening, after a good day at work! Not too much planned for the weekend, other than a pedi, lunch and some flip flop shopping on Saturday, a little laundry and then a day of rest on Sunday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Well, I have decided to have a blog....so what now?

So, I have decided (temporarily at least) to have a blog. I will see how it goes. I may not even keep it! But, I am willing to try most things at least once, so here goes......!

I spent some time reading the blogs of some Face Book friends, and was a little bothered by some of what I read on one, so I decided that if I wanted to get MY view out on life, then what better way than having a blog??? Pretty much anyone who spends a lot of time with me (you know who you are, co-workers) knows that I am not one to keep any secrets, or keep any feelings and thoughts pent up inside, so who knows? This could be a GREAT thing!

Not too many people from my past, specifically church friends, know that I have been out of church for some time. There are a few somewhat "valid" reasons for this (things that happened between former good church friends and I), although when it comes right down to it, those reasons are not reason enough. I know this, and God knows this. I am slowly coming around and coming to terms with a couple of the big issues, and God knows this too. I have a very hopeful feeling for the future though. I recently attended the "Flylady" conference at FBC Moore, and although the flyl lady (whom i had never heard of prior to this) seemed a bit disorganized ( to those of you who know who she is, I believe you would find the disorganization ironic), I really enjoyed being at FBC Moore, and catching up with a few old, but great friends! Although some feel that a church like FBC is too "big" for the pastor to know EVERYONE, God knows everyone there. It's a friendly church, with a lot of friendly people who are all there ultimately for God, and THAT is what is important. So, I am soon gonna start attending again, and see how it goes.

I have been on a journey that I started on 8/12/08 with Weight Watchers. To date I have lost 42.8 pounds! More importantly though, is that I started a completely new lifestyle that I am committed to, and that is cooking healthy, eating healthier, and getting out and about and MOVING more. I suppose that the weight loss has been a result of doing and LOVING the lifestyle change. Anything I can do to get outside and move more is great. Getting out into the sunshine is such a mood lifter. I am also hoping to get a little healthy glow type of tan. This pasty pasty white that I am is the old me! Lucy and I have taken several walks this week, and are about to take another as soon as I finish this! I bought a bicycle, too! It's a retro style cruiser. It's SO cute! As soon as I get my butt used to it, I will ride more and more! I have truly forgotten how much I loved to ride bikes when I was a girl!

Well, my yakking on here probably seems a bit disorganized, but hey, it's my first blog, so give me a break! Lucy and I are going out for a short walk before I get too tired! I will post again soon!
